Uniform studies of the Austrian armed forces were prolific, especially during the 19th century.

The series shown here from Franz Gerasch were produced in the period 1860-70.  They take the army from the Thirty Years War to the years preceding the Franco-Austrian War of 1859 and the ensuing liberation of Italy.

His paintings included famous commanders as well as all the branches of the army and navy.  For a thorough description of Austrian Uniforms, view the Ottenfeld section on the website
