Copyright Notice

A brief explanation of why we copyright our prints and our work.

• Much of our original source material has suffered the ravages of time and
atmosphere so as to suffer significant degrading of color and paper.

• Many of our plates were originally printed as black and white line art then hand colored.
The use of journeyman artists (?) for this delicate work resulted in a great deal of variation in quality.
Often times details in the original prints were omitted or obscured by overpainting, buttons, belts and buckles are frequent casualties.

With the knowledge that our audience wants detail, detail, and more detail as well as accurate color we have made the decision to,
in most cases, enhance the work of the original publisher.
We evaluate each print before beginning work for accuracy and color and detail. The computer allows us to completely re-work
the colors and add details while still preserving the original work to some degree.

As an example, see the section of a Knötel UNIFORMENKUNDE print below. The figure at left comes from an original print of the late 1890's. At right is our restoration done this year for our book on the Army of Hanover. While the original may be considered "Public Domain" our many hours of restoration work at right is copyright by Uniformology and may not be reproduced without our permission.
