The Imperial German Army Ca. 1896 This very interesting and colorful set of prints was published of all places in the United States in the late 1890's. The work is done by several different artists and the detail color and subject matter are all quite interesting. Imperial German Cavalry Field Gray Uniform The end of the 19th century and the advent of the machine-gun and modern warfare spelled and end to the bright colorful uniforms on the battlefield. Whatever the German uniform designers sacrificed in color they more than made up for in elegance. The uniforms are totally field gray with unit colors and rank distinctions for highlights. Polish Lancers of the Imperial Guard by Bronislaw Gezembrowski The artist was Poland's premier army illustrators from the late 1890's. These prints were originally published in 1895 in the French military journal ÒLe SabretacheÓ. Most of the artists works were destroyed during WW2. The set is comprised of 9 11" X 14" prints and includes an eight page booklet of notes by Dr. David Stefancic with details on each print.
