The French Colonial Army 1832-1914 This is an excellent set of 36 prints was published in the early 1930Õs and covers the four most famous French foreign military organizations that supplied effective fighting forces for the French Government for over a Century. While the British has their Gurkas and Indian regiments, and the Germans their African troops no other nation fielded more effective and feared foreign troops than France. Their brilliant and colorful uniforms are every bit as striking as their combat effectiveness.

French Army of the Napoleonic Wars by Bellange The Bellange were printed in the early 1800's. They are quite accurate. The originals were printed as small hand colored engravings. As was the norm with most hand color engravings the Òhand colorersÓ were not the most careful and diligent artists in the world so much of the detail was overpainted or obscured. We have been able to digitally correct the overpainting to bring these prints to what surely the original artist intended.
This set is a real bargain.

The detail captured by the artist in these prints is almost photographic. Many customers shy away from purchasing this set because it is almost all Òblack and white.Ó That is a mistake- it was originally published in black and white with the color fronts piece depicting Napoleon and Murat.
