Detaille's French Army of Africa 1885

There were few more exotic and harder fighting than the French Army of Africa made up of soldiers recruited from the French possessions in North Africa. They fought in nearly every engagement in which the French army was involved from the middle of the 19th Century until after the First World War. This is a set of eight cards of soldiers of the French Army of Africa done by Edouard Detaille in 1885.
