The French Napoleonic Prints of Carle Vernet (1758-1836)
Carle Vernet is one of the most accurate and respected of all the historians and recorders of the French military uniform. Especially the Napoleonic period of which he was a contemporary. Our prints come from a portfolio of prints photographed in the early 1960's. Vernet's work was a standard reference for almost all of the later artists and historians. We owe him a great deal of respect for his work.
We were not able to reproduce this series as prints because of the heavily textured art paper on which they were printed. The CD format and its photographic type of reproduction is perfect for these beautiful, interesting and highly accurate prints.
