The Seven Years War was the largest conflict since the War of Spanish Succession. It eventually involved most countries, principalities and other smaller states, in Europe.
The Treaty of Versailles signed by Austria and France in 1756 pitted them against Prussia and Great Britain to gain supremacy in Europe and beyond. This eventually grew to involve campaigns as far away as India, the Caribbean and North America.
Prussia, led by Frederick the Great assembled an army that became the nemesis of France and Austria. Frederick’s military genius led him to create an army that became the envy of his admirers and detractors alike. Prussia’s supremacy in battle was to continue for nearly 100 years with few mishaps, largely by Napoleon.
