The Army of Holland 1799-1815

This is a rare set of 10 watercolors of the Army of Holland during the Napoleonic Wars. As an ally of France following the French Revolution as the Batavian Republic and later the Kingdom of Holland under Napoleon's brother Louis the Dutch were strong allies. They even provided fine troops for the famous "Red Lancers" the 2nd Regiment of Lancers of the Imperial Guard and the 3rd Regiment of Grenadiers of the Guard in their distinctive white uniforms. After the first abdication the Dutch quickly allied themselves with the British and Belgians and provided a small contingent that fought at Waterloo. We are proud to offer this set of 10 prints of some of the more unusual uniforms of the Napoleonic wars. Each print is printed on our fine heavy watercolor paper.
