This set of 8 plates was done by Detaille from life studies in 1886. It covers various troops of the all important French Army of Africa. The set consists of : 1. Zouaves on the march, 2. A party of dignitaries escorted by Spahis and Chasseurs d' Afrique, A Chasseur d' Afrique, Spahis, Tirallieurs Algerian, Camp of Zouaves, a Zouave Drum Major, and a native officer of Tirallieurs Algerian in summer uniform. Done on a special paper each of these prints is most suitable for framing.
