There is perhaps no better know or better loved British military artist of the late Victorian Era than Harry Payne. His style and flair for drama and expression is matchless among his English comtemporaries. Harry Payne along with his brother Arthur provided the illustrations for the small 69 page book "ON SERVICE AT HOME AND ABROAD" by Percy Groves. This set of 37 plates includes such famous works as "Death of Lt. Tryon" (Rifle Corps 1854) and "The Last Stand of the 66th" (Maidwand 1880) and less well known paintings like the "Discovery of the Body of the Prince Imperial" (by the 17th Lancers 1879). We are pleased to make these available to all collectors on CD at our most reasonable prices.

Unlike the book by Percy Grove described above these prints come from the huge multi-volume set "Her Majesty’s Navy" by Charles Rathbone Low published in 1892. It was illustrated by W. Christian Symons and W. Fred Mitchel. This set of 19 plates has not (as far as we know) been reproduced before. Our CD contains all 19 plates in full color.

IMPERIAL GERMAN ARTILLERY OF WWI This is probably one of the rarest and most interesting of all our new sets. It consists of 61 plates mainly of black and white photographs from the First World War of German Artillery pieces, firing positions, crews. There are even several black and white and one full color print of artillery in action. Here you will find everything from the giant 38cm railway cannon to mobile field pieces and everything in between. I would venture to say these photos from a rare German volume published during the war have never been re-published before. This CD is a valuable resource for any student of Imperial Germany or the First World War.
